Who AM I & What I Do To Help You Succeed

My name is Franks K. Munene.  I was born and raised in Kenya, EA.  I am 1 of 11 kids in my family.  I arrived in the United States and ultimately in El Paso via an athletic track scholarship to the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Utep was amongst 11 Universities in the U.S, that offered me a full ride. I also had an offer to go to Italy and the U.K., but the people in El Paso and the climate made me want to stay.

My Athletic History:

I have always had the drive to excel since I was very young. I was the 5th born in the family, and my older sisters had great talents in a variety of sports they played.  Early on, I realized that I ran faster than most and could also run long distances.  I attended an all-boy boarding secondary school away from home where I was the athletic team captain, volleyball team captain, and was the co-captain in soccer.  I made the Kenya Senior National team in the 800m the season after secondary school.

My Athletic Career At UTEP:

While at Utep, I had the opportunity to compete in indoor, outdoor track and field as well as cross country, where I earned multiple “All American Honors” in the three sports.  As a team we broke the world record in track and field.

Awards Won:

Multiple All American Honors in individual and team sports. I have been inducted to UTEP Athletics Hall-of-Fame several times.

My Belief:

Everyone needs to find what their passion is, look for someone successful in that area, and seek their guidance. Everyone has a God given talent, they just simply need to discover it.

In Training:

You must have the desire to succeed. Find a good coach.  A good coach will help you “define or refine” your talent. Be coachable/teachable. Be prepared to work hard, and refuse to quit!
